False hope from Discovery.

So Discovery Health claims to give you peace of mind during pregnancy, well this is ******* and I will make sure I move to a better Health insurance company.

I was sent by my gynea for a fetal assessment after my pathology results came back as an intermediate risk for down syndrome. Before going for the assessment I contacted Discovery for approval knowing I will request a refund. An approval from the NIPT team was received, nowhere in the email eas it mentioned that the approval only covers a set of blood tests and not a fetal assessment scan. To my knowledge, the scan and the test results I sent through to them go hand in hand. I then sent an invoice to Discovery for a refund and got a response that they will process a refund. Why did they approve in the first place if they will not process the refund, why did they not ask for more information from me if they were not sure what tests will be done? Why offer a maternity benefit if you are going to say 'oh we don't cover this scan' yet it's a scan that every pregnant woman does.

I am really disappointed in Discovery and will be moving to another medical aid where I will not have pre-approval after countless calls and then told that the claim will not be paid. I have had enough of Discovery and its nonsense.
