FAIL!!!!

Good day Mujeeb,

I trust that you are well, I have spoken to a few people at discovery with little or no success however I believe that this can be resolved with your assistance, firstly I would like to say that you have a Gem in Cara she has gone above and beyond what I would expect from a personal assistant!

I have been a member of discovery for more than a year now and I am on a classic priority plan this was the suggestion made to me by the broker before I joined nothing was really explained to me apart from the 2 things that was most important to me at the time. Firstly my son needs chronic meds on a months basis and secondly at the time my daughter had braces so I needed that to be taken care of.

The premium is R10400 and I was ok with that as long as my family was covered, because of the chronic meds and braces we found ourselves reaching the self-payment gap much quicker than expected however when the plan was sold to us it was said that don’t worry Mr. San Giorgio this plan has a savings account and if you exhaust that you will have a small self-payment gap and once you cover that you will have access to your above threshold benefit, the problem with this is that it wasn’t explained in detail! Never the less as a layman we see things very differently, we had a wellness day at work and a eye screening was done needless to say I was a candidate for spectacles I was called in by management and it was explained to me that If you are a candidate for specs it needs to be actioned with immediate effect as the company will not want us driving company cars in excess of a million rand.

This threw a spanner in the works as I knew that I didn’t have any more savings available but now needed to get my eyes sorted out urgently because of my job, being the only bread winner this was priority for me, the claim was sent to discovery but I knew it would be declined I then asked for a better deal and I then looked at the self-payment gap and saw that I needed R10000 to close the gap and I would have access to R36000 above threshold benefit so I paid the R13000 for the glasses and submitted the receipt thinking that R13000 would cover the gap and I would have access to my above threshold benefit, can you imagine the surprise when I realized that the self-payment gap was only reduced to R7500, please keep in mind I have paid my premium of R10400, and I have spent R1500 for chronic medication and I have paid R13000 for spectacles and im nowhere near to closing the gap this is the frustration because after I had called in only then did I realize that I had a limit on specs, I have never heard this before nobody has explained this to me and I am not over R20000 in red! I have crippled myself and my family doing this simply because of a lack of communication I cannot unfortunately turn back the hands of time, however if I was told about the limit I would have used the cash money a lot better.

Good morning all,

i have made a decision bite it out and stay with discovery until the end of the year! however i will be leaving your brand as there certainly is no value in it for me.
