My Son was diagnosed with Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia). We were referred to a specialist Medical Practitioner who specialises in such parasitic diseases. A visit and a regime of tests and drugs have been completed. We have paid upfront for the Practitioner’s Medical services and put in a claim with Discovery for re-imbur*****t in July 2021 and to-date, no re-imbursment. Website shows no information other than a reason code 163.

I understand Bilharzia is a PMB condition (code 172S), the policy covers the payment (not our medical savings).

Our first telephone conversation we were informed that Discovery wont re-imburse us because the Medical Services Provider has been flagged.

Our second conversation concluded with the same explanation that the provider was flagged. phoned the Medical provider and they are not aware of being flagged. Discovery refuse to explain anything in this respect.

I am asking “you” Discovery, what does flagged mean?

If Discovery have an issue with the Medical provider then Discovery should address this in a court of law. Your problems have nothing to do with me as a principal policy holder who has honoured my obligations by paying my premiums. Failure to re-imburse me is tantamount to ******ion and ********* as you are using me as a tool to get your way with the medical practitioner.

You are attempting to clawback money from medical providers. (this is widely known in the press and the public domain with a recent reference to Carte Blanche and newspaper articles Daily Maverick). I am very uncomfortable with how you are treating me and the perceived treatment of our Medical Practitioners. I am making enquiries to move away from Discovery.
