Expensive plan downgrade
I sent the necessary documentation to effect a 'downgrade' in my health plan on 27/10 and after not receiving any response, called the call centre this afternoon (30/10) to follow up. After being put on hold and transferred several times and no call-back after the call dropped during holding, I eventually had the following feedback.

I want (need) to downgrade (to KeyCare) because I cannot afford to pay R1195 per month for a hospital plan - I started working freelance and my income (mostly interest from an investment) for the PAST 12 MONTHS was just over R50,000.

However, I was placed in the highest income bracket apparently due to a R6,000 credit during July (which was a transfer from a - my - credit card account and NOT 'income'). If I wish to be considered for a lower bracket, I have to submit an affidavit as 'proof' that this amount is not part of my regular monthly income.

This 'downgrade' means I will now pay R1592 per month instead of R1195. I DO NOT want that and I definitely cannot afford that.

This is a very disappointing outcome and after 15 years with Discovery I am now absolutely ready to cancel my membership.
