Empty Promises

I received an SMS from Discovery Health on 16 April 2015 offering a free pneumococcal vaccination, presumably as I was considered at risk of getting pneumonia. I went to a local pharmacy clinic to have the vaccine, and they told me that the cost would be debited to my savings account. I contacted Discovery and this was confirmed by the consultant who took my call. I then emailed Discovery about their promise to pay for the vaccine and then reversing it as I would end up paying if it came off my savings. A few days later I received a call from a consultant at Discovery, who explained that as I a considered at risk, the cost would not be deducted from my savings, but paid from another cost centre (I can't remember which). I returned to the clinic and had the vaccine, and was surprised to find out a few days later that my savings had been used. The amount was R714.91. When I queried this by email I was advised that I was not covered for he particular vaccine that was administered. Not once prior to the vaccination was I advised that a particular vaccine was to be administered, and as a pensioner cannot afford to pay the cost of this vaccine. Subsequent email have not been answered.
