Downgrade

My mom withdrew her medical aid effective end of June. Mid June we decided to rather downgrade the medical aid to a hospital plan instead of terminate completely.

My mom called Discovery and spoke to a consultant and asked her to downgrade to Coastal Core as we were in the process of moving to the Cape. Near the end of the conversation my mom's phone beepped that her airtime was coming to an end and informed the consultant and asked her to make sure the downgrade was completed.

We noticed in July that no debit order had come off the account and called Discovery to find out why. The answer we received is that the downgrade had not taken place. We explained the whole scenario and apparently a call was listened to (I am a call centre manager & know full well how these things work) and my mom needs to re-apply.

Firstly - there is no planned procedures or a need for underwriting as nothing has changed, it's simply downgrading to Risk only. When we initially called in to query there was a lapse of under 30 days, there is no reason ot to reinstate - do you not want our business our entire family of 6 have been members for many years.

Please would someone with some authority contact us to investigate this matter further. It's difficult enough trying to get hold of a team leader or specialist when calling in.
