Double debited for no ****** reason

Good day,

My debit order normally runs on the 1st of every month, I contact Discovery last month advising that I would like for my debit order to run on the 10th of every month going forward.

At the time I was advised that I was too late to have the debit order date changed for the month of April as the debit order run was already submitted - I was fine with that and requested for the debit order date to be changed for the following month.

I had a debit order go off on the 2 May, which I was fine with and then expected my next debit order to run on the 10th of June, only to find a debit order go off yesterday (11 May) for the full amount which was taken on the 2 May.

Upon calling the call centre this morning I spoke to Vuyo who advised that because I changed my debit order date this is normal procedure that a second debit order runs in the same month and that I should have been told this when requesting a date chance (which I was not).

I was also advised that the funds which was taken from my account cant be given back to me until its reflecting on your side (which will take 72 hours).

Now I ask you this, in the current financial climate we find ourselves in due to Covid-19 how many people are able to survive a double debit for medical Aid and have to wait 72 hours or the funds to be reversed.

Its appalling that I was never made aware of 2 debit orders running in the same month on the initial call as I would have immediately said NO to having the debit order date changed.

I need my funds refunded as a matter of Urgency and would like a response today.

Regards Muhammed
