Don't care about the small individual client in these tough economic times
My wife went into a day clinic for a surgical tooth extraction and all pre autherisations were done. We paid the copayment and thought all was good. Well, that was the start of the nightmare. Discovery app**** an out of network copayment even though the day clinic is on their list for my scheme. Not even to mention that they wipped part of the payment off my MSA.
Multiple phone calls later and at least four different versions from consultants the MSA was credited but I still could not get answers on the out of network copayment app****. Consultants and managers at the call center agree that the clinic used is on the list but when the enquiry was lodged the response was out of network again.
So here we are over a month after the treatment date with no resolution and I cannot even apply for re-inbur*****t from my gap as the clinic statement shows a R5550 copayment and the Discovery statement shows a R 10700 copayment.
I must admit discovery are quick to stop your medical aid if you are late with a payment but are slow to rectify obvious errors. I honestly think that discovery have become too big to worry about the individual member and hide behind a corporate facade of sorry you can't call the claims department as they have no phones but the call center and the feedback from the claims department are worlds apart.
I lent the initial copayment thinking I will pay the loan as soon as gap pays but due to discovery's incompetence I am incurring interest. Are they going to compensate me?
