Don't even bother to read their e-mails

My mom suffers from epilepsy and has recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea. In tests conducted she stopped breathing 64 times in the night for up to 87 seconds at a time. She is clearly in dire need of a CPAP machine to regulate her breathing. We app**** for cover for this machine and Discovery Health responded with a standard letter of decline, not referring at all to her case, but advising that it did not qualify as a PMB. They invited us to submit an appeal.

I then submitted 2 appeals from both her pulminologist and neurologist, as this condition affects her epilepsy as well, which is already approved as a PMB.

I also took the time to point out to Discovery that it would be in their best interests to approve the claim, as use of the machine may allow her to reduce her epilepsy medication, which does cost Discovery heavily every month.

More than 2 weeks after submitting the claim I received a response which is a carbon copy of the first response I received, again inviting me to submit an appeal (Umm... this was the appeal) and not even referring to all the evidence and doctor's letters I submitted. I suspect they didn't even read a word of what I sent.

Dear Mikayla
We have tried calling you to address your concerns but we were unable to get through to you. We have emailed you directly detailing the information that is required for the CPAP machine to be reviewed for cover. Please email us if you have any further questions and we will gladly assist.
