Dissapointed in their maternity cover.

I am extremely disappointed in the service I've been receiving from Discovery lately.

I am currently pregnant with twins and on their Classic Comprehensive Plan. Note that this is their second highest plan and costs a small fortune.

I've come to notice that their Maternity Benefit is absolutely useless, as it barely covers anything. Their rates cover about R500 per consultation and R400 per ultrasound, which explains why they don't have a payment agreement with most gynecologists. You will not find a doctor with these rates even if you pay private.

They also indicate that they pay for a defined basket of blood tests, turns out they won't even cover half of the blood tests required by the doctor.

I was referred to a fetal specialist as I'm high risk. Once again, they don't cover consultations of any fetal specialist in the entire country.

Up to now, I had to pay R11 800 out of my own pocket for my 1st trimester alone. Which leaves me asking, what did Discovery pay?

I'm dreading the fact that for the remainder of my pregnancy, most of my claims will be paid from my Savings Account and not the Maternity Benefit.

I've requested a list of what their actual Discovery Rates are for anything related to maternity claims, so that I can plan ahead. Have not received any feedback. I've also requested feedback on why certain claims are short paid, without any feedback.

I was planning on staying on this plan even after giving birth and also putting the twins on my medical aid (and not hubby's), but this will not be happening.
