Dishonesty and ********* practices in sale of Discovery Health policy

1. We as Legae La Nnete a registered NPO and PBO are extremely unhappy about the explanations we received together with the brochure about the Discovery Smart Classic plans we took out with both commencing on 1st October 2019, with a 3 month waiting period. 2. The first and main reason for this, is that when the optometrist part was explained, I was told there is an annual free eye test with a R50 upfront payment. I clearly mentioned that I only need new spectacles every 2nd or 3rd year, and was not informed that the cost of these is not covered. 3. I was also informed that all medicines are free provided we obtain them from Dis-Chem. You informed me on Monday that there is an annual limit of R900. 4. I then also double checked with you about dental benefits as I was informed that all unlimited appointments only have a R50 upfront payment, but was not told that work done will be for my cost. 5. After going through your brochure, I am once again concerned, as I was told there is a 100% hospital cover provided the registered hospitals are used. I see on other plans it talks about a 200% cover which is concerning and misleading. Does this mean 100% only means 50% cover if other plans offer 200% cover? 6. I sent an email to Suenette Labuschagne who did not even bother to answer my email and went ahead with the cancellation process for which we received an email confirmation last week. 7. We wanted to know the process to claim back our 3 months waiting period funds paid and we were sold the policies under false pretense. 8. After receiving the confirmation of the cancellations the debit orders still went through our bank account resulting in an overdrawn balance which has never happened before and resulted in further costs to our NPO.

We find this whole process to be ********* and will be escalating this matter.
