Disgusting Medical Aid

Honestly I am sick and tired of Discovery Medical Aid. What is the purpose of the Maternity benefit if it cannot cover anything.

After activating the benefit Discovery has refused to pay for GP and all bloods done during my pregnancy, they have only paid R1000 towards bloods and they keep rejecting all claims. What boils me the most, What angers me to the core is the fact that the moment I found out I was pregnant I immediately called Discovery to ask about Maternity benefit. I was told about the things that are not covered which included anti natal vitamins and what is covered which was explained to me as GP, Gynaecologist and all bloods during pregnancy. Today I find myself with a bill of almost R10 000 because Discovery so far is only paying the Gynaecologist. When I called they are suddenly changing the story and saying they are paying for “some” bloods. This includes the NIPT they have not paid for yet it is there on the website and it says it is covered and these tests don’t affect your day to day. How do you decide which blood test is not important as a medical scheme?

My pregnancy journey has been miserable because of Discovery. I have so much anxiety and stress that should I need urgent medical attention I won’t be covered, mind you my company and I are contributing thousands towards my medical aid and OH!! I am on Classic Saver option. I am not looking forward to my delivery day because I don’t know what excuse is Discovery going to come up with this time. I would NEVER NEVER EVER advise anyone to join Discovery especially if they are still planning on having children. Useless Medical Aid that does not care about its members just good in taking money. I cannot wait for the day I’m gonna leave this cruel medical aid because really I don’t have peace of mind. HATE is an understatement of how I feel about Discovery
