Disgusted that Discovery would rather let you suffer a fatality than cover a Chronic life-threatening Condition

<p>At the age of 26, I had a stroke. I was diagnosed with venous sinus thrombosis - Blood Clots on my Brain - and had to put on Blood thinners. Discovery fully covered my medicine at this stage as it was incredibly expensive - Clexane.</p> <p>2 years ago, I was taken off the meds. Unfortunately this year, horror struck again where I stopped breathing and I was diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism - Blood clots on my Lungs. It has been confirmed by the best specialists in the country that I suffer from a Protein S deficiency - meaning that I will always Clot. It is LIFE-THREATENING and I cannot miss a single day without taking blood thinners.</p> <p>The only options I have available to me at this stage is Xaralto as the other medicines will be a counter-contra as I have other medical conditions. Xaralto is MY ONLY OPTION!!! And it is incredibly expensive.</p> <p>After months of several phone calls, Motivational Letters from experienced Specialist, requesting Discovery Health provide me with the medication under their Chronic Portfolio - I HAVE BEEN DECLINED - with a simple response - WE DONT APPROVE!!!!</p> <p>YOU JUST DONT CARE! This is not a service at all. I depend on Discovery to have my Health needs covered or at least provide a SERVICE - no feedback, no alternatives. How can you possible allow your Clients to face Fatality as I am unable to afford my Medication!! My hospital bills that you do cover, when I end up in hospital, far out way my medication. How does this make any sense!!! I AM UTTERLY DISGUSTED. Your services have dropped substantially. You can’t even take the time to respond to my emails, phone calls and requests for alternative options. I pay for a service from you! </p> <p>Furthermore, you say you don’t approve my medications, yet, on this site, I have seen your response to another client where you APPROVE HER XERALTO UNDER CHRONIC MEDICATION -There is written evidence of this - YOU ARE BIAS!</p> <p>I have been in hospital about 8 times this year, don’t have any more sick leave, have suffered loss of income and am now unable to afford the medication I need. Will you be covering the costs of looking after my 4 year old child when I am no longer around, or when I lose my job, as I am sick all the time!</p> <p>Your article last week advertising your brand new building - which cost you Billions of Rands - is a slap in the face for all Discovery members - as you do not provide a Professional Service catering for our Health needs!</p> <p>Shocked....and terrified.... as I now enter day 7 of not being able to take my meds due as i am unable to afford it!31 year old, single mom, fighting for a “service” that I pay for!!! It’s hard enough being sick, and I now have to fight just to receive a service from you! I’m Exhausted!!!!</p> <p> </p>
