On 9 November 2015 my daughter went for blood tests for bilharzia, allergies etc because she was ill and didn't get better. She has a history of allergies and we wanted to exclude this from the possibilities. I knew that our plan pays for blood tests even when our savings have been depleted and did'nt think it would be rejected. I received a statement for the amount of close to R3000.00 from the pathologists. When I queried this it was said that the benefit called the insured network benefit can only be used at certain clinics and because my town does not have these facilities they cannot pay this pathologist from the benefit. I feel that I have been discriminated against for not having these facilities in my home town of Phalaborwa. I cannot use these specific clinics, but they are not even willing to negotiate to pay the pathologist at the clinic rates and I pay the difference. I pay the same for my medical aid as people living in areas that have these clinics, now I cannot benefit due to lack of these facilities. I have even gone as far as to ask where I could have found these clinics in my area, they have not responded. Now I have to pay everything from my pocket. Bad response
