**************

To whom it may concern

I have been a member of the Discovery Health group for over 5 years now.

I have received a message from you asking for a proof of income statement as per your annual salary review process. Something I have never been asked in 5 years until now.

I find this process unjust and a direct ************** as an individual.
I could appreciate a annual increase where both parties agree to a certain percent.

I do not agree however with the fact you want to bill me significantly more for the same package with no extra benefits. To say that the health board requires this from you is not my problem as a client. How on earth could you charge me more if my salary has not adjusted??? Yet because you know I earn significantly more you want to charge me more!

This displays bad business etiquette from your side as a health provider.

I find your business practice distasteful.

Does your terms and conditions give you the right to discriminate?

Hello Puzzledsolutions,

Thank you for your comment.

Discovery Health has introduced the KeyCare series in 2003 and based the contributions on different levels of members' income. This is to ensure the affordability and sustainability of these health plans, for both our members and the Scheme. The contributions for KeyCare Plans are based on income. In managing the benefits and cover on KeyCare Plans, Discovery Health must make sure we continue to provide a high level of cover at affordable rates.

Income is defined in the Rules of the Discovery Health Medical Scheme. The income definition has been approved by the Council for Medical Schemes. For the reasons stated above it is important to receive the appropriate documentation so that we can allocate your premium to the correct category.

I trust that my email has provided more clarity and really sorry that I could not give you a different outcome.

Regards
Rishana
