DISCOVERY WONT REFUND MY MEDICAL SAVINGS!!!
I had a Discovery medical aid scheme with savings but downgraded it.
At the end of October 2020, I requested a refund of my savings but to no avail. They tell me that I have to wait FOUR MONTHS in case there are outstanding claims.
However, I gave Discovery a written undertaking that I would be responsible for any such claims. Also, savings can be paid out early if a member is in financial difficulty. In these challenging times, who hasn't got financial challenges!
When I complained to Complaints, they threw the book at me. This seems like another case of David battling with Goliath and Goliath is quite unsympathetic!
IT IS TOTALLY PATHETIC!

23 Dec 2020, 16:46 I have been battling for almost 2 months to get Discovery to refund the savings in my Medical Savings account. Even though this is MY money, Discovery has failed to pay me out.
For the benefit of other Discovery members/ readers who may be encountering equally poor service from Discovery, the complaints' procedure is to as follows:-
1. Write to the Principal Office (In my case it was a waster of time);
2. Lodge a formal dispute with Discovery (which I have now done);
3. Write to the Council for Medical Schemes (which I really hope I wont have to do).
In addition, air your grievance on social media like Hellopeter and Facebook where it seems you may get noticed.
So, yesterday I felt moved to publish my sad saga on Hellopeter and almost immediately (today the 23rd) I had a phone call from a certain Sesha. She promised to revert back to me in the next few days (with positive news, I hope)
SO, WATCH THIS SPACE!

24 Dec 2020, 15:14I have now received a reply from Discovery Health and I have been informed that it will take up to 30 days to investigate my Dispute.
This means Discovery will keep my medical savings for another month, after having withheld it for 2 months so far! INCREDIBLE! What will the Council for Medical Schemes say about THAT!
