Discovery will be your worst nightmare come true.

Discovery is the worst medical aid in South Africa. You can just as well not have medical aid, it is the same thing. I made a visit to the ER in August 2023. They have been refusing to pay me the money for the visit. The hospital was an out of network hospital but discovery said they request a letter of motivation. This cost me R 300. They then sent back a form that the doctor needs to fill out as well. The doctor is charging me an additional R 600 for this form. Discovery just does not care, this is not there problem. They need this to do an investigation but it is my problem that they require this. Why could they not just send the form from the start? They then need to cover these additional costs. The consultants are useless. I have two different queries with problems with the exact same form sat two different doctors. They can not COMPREHEND what I am talking about when I tell them there are tow different queries. They keep on getting confused and thinking I have one issue. I am at a point where it does not make any sense to have the plan I have anymore anyway. Everything Discovery is refusing to pay every month adds up to an additional R 3000 a month. This on top of me allready paying R 3000 for medical aid. I can at just as well just move medical aids and have a full medical aid and not just a hospital plan. I am now telling every single person I know to never ever make use of discovery. Every single colluege, every single family and friend, even people working for disovery I am telling to not use discovery. This is a horrible horrible experience. I mvoed to discovery in 2022. It is the biggest regret of my entire life. And I have made some stupid decisions.
