Discovery wants me to have cancer

I have been a Discovery member for more than 10 years. I have a family history of breast cancer and have had to have a prophylactic mastectomy. I have a few lumps in my remaining breast tissue and arranged with my surgeon to have it removed. Because I am generally in good health I have a Smart Essential plan with Discovery. When trying to get authorisation for this operation I was informed that Discovery would only cover the costs if it was cancer. So, your medical aid wants you to have cancer. Please stop with all your preventative plans and ideas Discovery. Your patients go in for a lumpectomy and have to pray it is cancer so that the medical aid will pay for the procedure. Needless to say I have resigned from Discovery immediately and I am sure I will find a medical aid that actually cares about its members and not t

he profit margin. I am lucky that my surgeon believes this to be non malignant. Which is too bad as Discovery said if he motivated that it was cancer maybe they would pay. Am I the only one that sees the irony? Good riddance Discovery!
