Discovery unreasonability - chronic medication.

I have an asthma chronic medication script which has expired, and my doctor is on leave. I called Discovery this morning to try and obtain approval for medication for just a few days until my doctor returns. Despite this being asthma medication, Discovery was adamant that I should obtain a script from my doctor, and that they would not be able to assist.

Disappointing that Discovery does not understand the severity of asthma ( for which I have been intubated in the past ) , and are not prepared to be reasonable, and provide medication in the interim.
