Discovery Travel Insurance Declined Claim of 177K - Shocking.

Dear Discovery,

It is with utter believe that you have declined a claim for an emergency evacuation, and I quote: The case was discussed by the Discovery Health Medical Team and the MSOI Medical advisor. The request for the helicopter costs to be covered under ITB was declined on the basis that this was not a medical emergency, and “search and rescue” is an exclusion under the benefit. The facts: 1. Discovery Travel Insurance (discovery consultant) confirmed I was covered for travel emergencies, prior to my departure, hence why no additional cover required. 2. I waited 2 days as informed the helicopter was unavailable and in for repairs. Who Authorized the Helicopter with the required MSOI number? 3. I was informed I would need to be transported to Windhoek Hospital as if I was submitted to Springbok, Discovery would not cover the costs. 4. Therefore 6 hours, two ambulances, to reach Lady Pohamba Private Hospital, of which 2 days were spent there. 5. Two days in hospital does not warrant an emergency? Yet you paid for the hospital stay, however, not the evacuation? How was I to reach the hospital whilst in the middle of the Fish River Canyon - please explain? 6. I needed to cover my own return flight to Cape Town, where as if I had been taken to Springbok, I would have been collected by my friends, without further financial costs.

Tell me Discovery Travel Insurance, how does a single mom, with one dependent, with another dependent who is a state pensioner and in a frail care facility, who I am financially responsible for, find 177K to pay for her own safety?
