discovery - they get rich, while we die trying.

we have been paying discovery medical aid premiums for 15 years. to date, we have used our medical aid 3 times - twice for the birth of my girls and once last year for an op for my husband. my husbands operation (which was pre approved) was billed to the medical aid, however, discovery paid only a portion towards my drs fees. i understand 200% and 300% fees are billed, however what i dont understand is why cant my medical aid pay it in full. we spend so much of money every month paying for medical aid, which we never use and which we have never defaulted on payment, but you cant pay my dr in full. i have calculated an average of R3500 paid to discovery for an average of 60months (5 years since our last hospital claim) which comes to R210 000 - you paid R80 000 (defaulted on the remainder R25 000 because of scheme rules) out of that for my husbands op, which was mainly his stay in hospital, where is the other R130 000 of our premiums going to??? if thats the case, i rather take my R5000 (2019 fee) premiums and invest them in unit trusts, knowing that my money is MY money to spend instead of making discovery rich, and will be able to access it at anytime. at least my money will earn interest, and should i never need to use it for hospital visits, it can be beneficial towards my kids tertiary education. extremely disappointed and i know that your response will be "scheme rules apply." as a loyal client of all of discovery products and services, maybe its time to invest my hard earned money else where.
