Discovery the let down

I am writing this review out of pure frustration and disappointment to Discovery Health, I hope by the end of reading this it will help you make a correct decision when choosing a medical aid. I recently came for income verification from Discovery Health Key care medical aid scheme ( Again Scheme double check that word). I have only just become permanently employed after not having a job for almost a year, in which i never defaulted in paying my Medical Aid Premiums by borrowing money and just surviving and managing to support my family. After back and forward emails and explaining my story and explaining to them that i now only earn R10 000 a month from my employment and make little extra on the side of R4000 by personal training people in the gym they have still decided to increase my premium to a amount i can not afford and now have to relook at medical aids and are they really worth it. You pay month after month as we need this cover in South Africa and get penalized if you don't have a medical aid then join one so you just keep it cause what if i need it. I think what bugs me the most is this company has years of my life paying them and most years not really using it maybe going to a doctor 3 or 4 times a year or using them to pay for you hospital visits for the birth of your kids and emergencies which does not come close to the amount you pay them through the years, you stay loyal and just keep going and paying cause we need it, and still fighting them when it comes to the bills and back and forwards with emails and fights and just pure anger to "Oh but we don't cover that" because of some nonsense excuse after using the doctors and hospitals they tell you to use. I feel let down but this scheme, corporation what ever you decided to call them. We have one permanent salary coming in to our house hold which is mine, my wife is not employed and we survive just by selling belongings and Borrowing money cause work is scares. So From the R14000 i earn i have to know pay to discovery most of my pay as i have medical with them, house and car insurance i am now left with R5000 a month to pay light and water, school and food and fuel for my family, which lets face it in SA is a struggle and pretty much impossible. My question is you get more than 3 quarters of my salary and now expect my family to survive on a what if i need it, why push up my premium to an amount that is just not affordable, oh wait i know we the clients have to pay for your new R4 billion rand building. So i guess i just want to say people shop around and make sure the medical aid you choose is actually there for you and not just to up and take premiums with out any regards for what's going on out there and can you actually afford it. In closing i will be changing my medical aid, changing my insurance and closing my accounts with Discovery ( oh ya i bank with them as well, dam i am a fool). i am so tired of fighting and arguing and emailing this company just to be told you will be raised to the second tier of medical aid and that that, oh and you house hold and car insurance is also going up cause you had two car claims and 3 house hold claims in the last year. Discovery you have made it perfectly clear that you are now only catering for the upper class and stuff the middle and lower class. After more than 20 years using discovery in various schemes and bank and insurance i am over it. Thank you discovery for making it unaffordable for loyal clients ...
