DISCOVERY - thanks for nothing!

If there was a zero that I could score Discovery I would. I have been with Discovery from 2003 to 2008 and then subsequently from 01-01-2009 to date. That's a 15 year membership. Apart from being a member of the medical aid I also have investments and life insurance with Discovery. So let me just say how utterly disgusted I am with the way this organisation behaves. I recently discovered I was pregnant and subsequently went to a foetal specialist on 17th May 2018. On the doctors instruction, I was sent for a NIPT test which I was told is covered by the maternity benefit with Discovery. Due to the urgency of the test, I proceeded to get the test done and register for the maternity benefit a day after. Despite being a member for so many years, consistently making payment, discovery decides actually they wont assist with payment of the tests and it should deplete my medical savings account instead. Now whereas I understand that companies throw their policy in your face, other insurance and medical schemes consider that their members are "people" and not digits and therefore review cases based on merit and severity.

To make things worse, I paid R6500 cash for the test (excluding the doctors fees that they also refuse to pay from my benefit), submitted the claim and then the clever lady Rahmat (arrogant as ever) at Discovery tells me that they paid the service provider because I never submitted the receipt. Only to find that all documents were submitted. It was purely a lack of attention that led to the error. So to make matters worse, I have been waiting a week to be paid, only to be told to wait another 2-3 working days until they process which means reimbur*****t will only be effective next week. Thanks for the useless, pathetic service Discovery. You are daily growing your reputation as a money hungry monster that rips people off their hard earned money only to make a profit and not provide proper service and support. Whatever happened to customer centricity?????
