Discovery taking two steps back to save a buck
My mom had an operation at Melomed MP to remove an ulcer, Dr removed part of the stomach as well which had the ulcer. Then one of the staples came undone. So she had to be opened up again to repair. She was in hospital for 6 weeks. A week or two later she was back in hospital for infection . The doctor at Melomed MP had taken off the plaster but didnt put another one on. Dr Trevor at Kuilsriver Netcare then recommended a machine which draws out the infection and heals the wound quickly. Reason, the infection was far advanced and my mom is 73. Discovery has denied this treatment, why, because they say he didnt try a less expensive wound therapy first. 1. My mom is 73 2. She had to undergo 2 major ops and a minor procedure 3. Why would you deny treatment to a woman who is 73, surely their bodies take longer to heal, so you would rather she heal quickly rather than go into hospital again which would cost Discovery more.
Btw infection seems to be back. Nothing to do with environment because wound is completely covered. She needs to go into hospital twice per week to have wound cleaned.
