Discovery strikes me off medical aid, says I **** about "fertility issues"

<p>I don't know where to start actually. I have been under Discovery for a couple of years now and earlier this year, my husband and I decided it was time we combine our medical aid. So I ditched mine and joined under his plan. </p> <p>I've been wanting to see a gynae for a while but kept putting it off. </p> <p>Finally booked an appointment and went to see one two weeks ago. The gynae sent me back, saying the plan my husband and I are under requires a referral note from one of the network doctors. I was forced to go see a network doctor and tell him that we are becoming serious about wanting to have a kid but in the last three years, it hasn't happened. </p> <p>My hubby has taken over the counter stuff before and my previous GP (who was not one of the network docs) had recommended some medication for me in the past. It hasn't worked. </p> <p>So, my doc wrote a referral to see a gynae, just so they can check if all is ok. </p> <p>The referral note was sent to my medical aid who told me they were reviewing my request to see a gynae. </p> <p>Two weeks later, I got a call from an agent from Discovery who asked me a few questions surrounding my medical history. </p> <p>I happily gave her all the info. </p> <p>Two days later, she called me back to tell me she had some bad news. </p> <p>Discovery had not approved my applicaton to go see a gynae because I had NOT DISCLOSED THAT I HAD FERTILITY ISSUES. </p> <p>I was dumbstruck.... </p> <p>She went on to say that I was being STRUCK OFF MY HUSBAND'S MEDICAL AID FOR FAILURE TO DISCLOSE MY FERTILITY ISSUES. </p> <p>I was beyond hurt! </p> <p>So, without as much as medical exam, Discovery had decided to label me as someone who was struggling with fertiity. They were one notch away from basically writing me off as infertile. Mind you, the issue could be with my husband and we were yet to get all those things tested at our own cost. </p> <p>I hate Discovery Medical Aid with all that I am. </p> <p>We paid around R3000 a month and in that time, all I ever did with the medical aid was go for one Optometrist appointment which didn't even cost R3000! </p> <p>They have shown extreme prejudiced and I would be damned if I let anyone close to me sign up for medical with them! </p> <p>WORST MEDICAL AID EVER! </p>
