11 Days ago Dr. Goldburgh sent in a request to preaurthorize me for an Iron infusion. My iron profile is very low and apparently I actually have no more reserves. In order for me to be able to get well quicker she asked Medical Aid to authorize this procedure. After countless phoning I eventually got the answer I did not want. Discovery will not do this procedure via Hospital plan and I would have to pay everything out of pocket. Can someone at Discovery please explain to me why I pay Medical Aid? I have not abused this scheme and when I need help I am told - SORRY. You need to pay this out of pocket. I need to have scopes as well and some how I have a feeling this will be rejected as well. It seems to me that the medical aid wants me to really get ill and then they are prepared to pay for a very long hospital stay. Where as if I go for this procedure it might be minimum
