Discovery most unhelpful call centre

Thank you for contacting me, I have in the meantime done some research into this too, I see this topic was a discussion on The Daily Maverick in 2021.

The thing that just get me is there is absolutely no logic being app**** here, in our case the person we need to add to Discovery is currently on a medical aid scheme that is about to go under (Health Squared) in 2 days time. The person has been on HS since joining in 2007.
Discovery want to add the 75% late joiner fee because the person did not belong to a medical aid BEFORE Health Squared. What the does that have to do with it, surely its the current status that counts.

This makes about as much sense as an ashtray on a Harley but obviously some person is being told to apply the rule and not their mind. The rule from Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa states "MAY" impose not must impose.

I understand if the person was not on a medical aid that a late joiner is applicable, in this case I just think its the greedy medical scheme wanting to leverage the extra 75% on some poor person that is currently being railroaded by a useless medical aid that has only had shoddy service in the past and now has to close up shop.

Discovery could have app**** some alternate thinking here, its a shame..
