Discovery Medical Pain

Dishonest, Over-priced, Shameful.

I have been with discovery for years with zero claims prior to this.

I recently had a surgery to remove my wisdom teeth, due to recurring infections and other issues, I was told that my gap cover would cover the co-payment to the hospital. Only to have received this pathetic excuse: It is billed to my my day-to-day benefits (benefits for contact lenses, glasses, medication etc.) COMPLETELY UNRELATED to a surgical procedure, therefore I never needed it and never included it.

They refuse to hear anything about it, just a 'shut-up and take it.' response.

Being so disgusted by this response, I immediately searched for other medical aids just to find ones that were cheaper (by 8%) AND offered more coverage AND day-to-day benefits.

They stuck me with the bill, therefore I will see to it that the R16,000 per month that my family is paying to Discovery for medical aid will be taken to a different medical aid.

AVOID THIS MEDICAL AID. SPARE YOURSELVES THE GRIEF.
