Discovery medical aid - Terrible! Jumping through hoops again !

I cannot believe I am on here again to complain about discovery medical aid. Every time I need to claim for a procedure there is an issue and I have to fight tooth and nail !!! About a 6 weeks ago I discovered a lump in my left breast and under my arm - I'm 36 years old and there is cancer in my family from my dad to my grans and on and on . Needless to say I immediately booked the soonest appointment and was referred to a specialist (keep in mind all of these visits Discovery didn't pay either !)- which I could handle - but already cost me over R 2000 just for the doctors out of pocket- with that said after ultra sounds and mammograms and specialists the doctor books a biopsy - guess what !? Discovery does not cover this !! I pay over R 2500 a month to discovery - my plan may not be the highest but it most certainly should cover this ! this is not a request for a flu shot ! it is a biopsy !! The rest of my family is with momentum and they pay even less monthly and they never have issues like this. I think I speak for all of us when I say it is for situations like this we have medical aid ! upon calling discovery I was told basically they would only cover the biopsy if I was already in hospital (say for example from a car accident !) and then the doctor did the biopsy then -then they would cover it - please please tell me how this makes sense ! I was also told should It be cancer then they will refund me - I'm sorry this seems so totally in the opposite of what a medical aid is for - its like you want me to be dying before you will assist with matters like this . should we not want to catch things like CANCER early and yes hopefully it isn't cancer but how will I know if I do not have the biopsy. I have never requested a biopsy before and I do not have approx R 8000 lying around for the biopsy . so my choices are to wait and save and possibly face if it is cancer that it gets worse or to jump through hoops from Discovery . This is not a situation anyone wants to go through .I am stressed and worried and not knowing is causing such emotional stress and anxiety. I was advised I can submit it as an out of hospital prescribed min benefit which has a 50 % chance of being approved. which I have now done with a motivational letter from the doctor - I will be sure to update if this does not go anywhere. please discovery your goal should be to ensure people don't get sick - the way you work it feels like you want us to get sick.
