Discovery Medical Aid Scheme is PATHETIC!

I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from Discovery's medical aid scheme, which I joined in June/July last year. I recently discovered that this is actually an insurance product, not a medical aid scheme. The poor service and lack of transparency led me to cancel my membership at the end of May. Unfortunately, I was still debited for June and was also charged an additional R900+.

What's even more frustrating is that all doctor consultations, including basic specialist visits, are deducted from the limited savings, which are lower than the monthly premium. For example, if you pay R3000+ per month, you'll only receive savings for one month's premium. This means that you'll have to pay out of pocket for most medical expenses that are not in-hospital.

In contrast, my previous medical aid scheme allocated funds for specific medical needs. I would not recommend Discovery to anyone, and I regret choosing them as my medical aid provider. It's better to save yourself the hassle and frustration of dealing with their unclear billing and limited savings.

Despite their consultants' best efforts to persuade me that they were the best choice for my health and well-being, I found the service to be subpar. It's clear that their primary focus is on making a profit, rather than providing quality care to their members. My advice would be to avoid this scheme at all costs and explore other options that prioritize your health and well-being.
