Discovery Medical Aid is a sham

Discovery medical aid is honestly the worst decision I have ever made. I have been on Classic Smar for 17 months now paying about R1600 per month. (That's R27 200 +)

Discovery has paid for 2 GP visits (with R50 co-payments) and 3 physio visits (with R100 co-payments) over 17 months. THAT'S IT.

Every single claim I submit becomes a marathon of T's & C's as to why your claim does not fall under the plan etc etc. Once I realized what a sham the scheme was I tried to upgrade and that's not allowed until the end of the year either.

I was recently in the emergency room for a sports injury and DISCOVERY DIDN'T COVER A SINGLE THING. Not even 1 X-ray, not the sling they gave me at the hospital or the ER's doctor consult. The plan explicitly says 'hospital cover' but unless you are admitted to hospital they won't cover anything. So because I didn't stay the night then I am liable for everything? What am I paying for? I have (personally) paid over R10 000 in medical fees as a result of this injury?!

They have **** rewards like flight boosters but then when you meet all the requirements they'll find some buried condition THAT THEY DON'T ADVERTISE that excludes you from the benefit.

Thank goodness I canceled my Discovery Card (which took me 4 months to close down while they still charged me bank fees.)

Discovery, you are a disgusting abuser of South Africans and I hope the new laws/ regulations surrounding medical aid put you out of business. Shame on you for taking advantage of so many people.
