Discovery Medical Aid - high medical aid fees for pensioners and people collecting a government grant

<p>in 2016 November Disvcovery requested documents from my mum showing her proof of incomce, we provided all necesary documents, we then get an email stating that my mum must prove she is receiving a government grant and asset decalaration to en sure she pays the correct amount. My mum proceeded with handing them all doc's and they contactred via a telephone call stating that they will be charging R914 from Jan 2017 for her keycare package, we aslo received email confirmation on this, come Jan 2017 they billed my mum R1375 and when we queired it this was there feedback: Please except their apologies they made a mistake and my mum will need to pay the new amount of R1375 as she joined the medical aid to late and will charge her a 50% late joiner fee, this is th 3rd year my mum is on this medical aid how can they still be charging a late joineer fee and not like my mum claims often from the medical aid, i am super digusted with how Discovery can rob innocent old people of their little government pension they earnm, they are greedy and in humane to treat the elderly this way, i will hold Discovery to their telephonic conversation and email confiramtion on the fee and i will right a huge article with the new paper on this matter and even if i have to get legal aid asisstance to take them to court i will. its ridiculous as my mum had to go to her sassa office for a letter proving she receives a monthly grant of R 1400. I am very upset about this matter and i will take it further.</p>
