Discovery Medical Aid
What an absolute disappointment. I have been with member with Discovery for a number of years just to find out that new regulations apparently if a dependent is on you medical aid for less than 12 months chances are they dying is 100% before getting treatment. My brother has been refused treatment because he is new to my medical aid. I mean do you plan to get the flue... do we plan to get sick.. or is that not the purpose of having medical aid. it has been 2 weeks, it has been confirmed that my brother needs very urgent care and there is only 1 surgeon and 1 hospital in South Africa that can save his life, my brother still does not have preauth to be admitted and has been 2 weeks.. latest is that they requested a document from an Audiologist... something that is not even relevant to his current condition... he now has a declined status to be admitted to hospital because the Standards Department within Discovery Medical aid is giving us the run around constantly stating they have not received the documentation from the requested doctors which is a lie and 7 days later no response, no call back even if it has been requested numerous times, and in fact the documents have been confirmed as received, once again today spent my day on the phone, was promised someone will call me back and we will have an answer in 2 hours, day came and day gone, no one phoned, there still is no answer and we entering week 3. What is the hold up why is discovery refusing treatment but they are taking our money! I was told managers will call me, standards department will call me!! I HAVE HAD 0 CALLS AND THE BEST THING.. ONE OF THE CONSULTANTS SAID SORRY MAM PERHAPS YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR BROTHER TO A STATE HOSPITAL!! We pay for private care but I am advised by discovery staff to take him to a state hospital! This case needs some serious attention and will be taken to to media! My brother will die without help and no one is willing to speak to us!! WHY ARE WE WITH DISCOVERY MEDICAL AID! they keep saying the documentation is outstanding where it is clearly indicated per reference that it has been received 2/04/2025 and today is already the 7th of April 2025. Standards Department is not doing their job and playing around! What sort of game is this, I am also refused to speak to senior members keep saying they will take my number and someone will call me! NO ONE CALLS AND WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR NOTHING!

You have NOT responded to me and the matter is NOT resolved! To get a consultant to call me to keep telling me the matter is escalated but there is still no progress. And what is it with the Standards department do these people work for the CIA your case worker name is not to be given out and we are not allowed to speak with them... notes are not updated or made with an initial so next person doesn't en know who it is! I'm taking the matter further with lawyers and getting the media involved. You are cheating us out of money and refusing treatment. You are playing around with and Audiologist result that has nothing to do with nothing and playing fir time not to get my brother admitted. Your policy 4 to 7 days bull**** it's been nearly 3 weeks every day is the same answer! I want the name of the standards department person not doing their job we are being held deliberately and my brother will die! I don't want to hear from your consultants that laugh us out I want someone from TOP MANAGEMENT! STOP COLLECTING THOYSANDS OF RAND OF OUR GARD EARNED MONEY AND REFUSING US TREATKENT PLUS TELLING ME TO TAKE MY BROTHER TO STATE HOSPITAL! WHY DO I PAY MEDICAL AID! THIS STAUNTON NEEDS TO BE ADRESSED TODAY NO LATER! TIME TO SHOW PEOPLE WHO DISCOVERY REALLY IS RATED ONE OF THE TOP PURELY BECAUSE YOU SO EXPENSIVE, YOU PROPLE DONT CARE ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND NUMBERS AND HOW WE ARE TREATED! PROBABLY BECAUSE WE ARE WHITE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE TREATED, YOU ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO NOT GET MY BROTHER ADMITTED, NOT 1 WHITE PERSON ON MY CASE, CALL, INVESTIGATION, CONVERSATION! AND EVERYONE SAYS WE SENT A MESSAGE TO THE BACK OFFICE! THATS HOW FAR THIS GOT IN 3 WEEKS AND WHEN YOU ON THE PHONE YOU CAN HEAR HOW THESE CALL CENTRE AGENTS IN THE BACK CHATTING TO EACH OTHER AND LAUGHING, NOT A WORRY IN THE WORLD!
