discovery medical aid

Tried to sign up with discovery via my place of employment, added my wife and kids on the lowest plan which is the key care plus option, rejected the quote because discovery beliefs that because my wife is added they need to charge me 90% of my salary ( premium per month R6300).Spoke to a broker and she explained that they look at combined household income! if you take 90% of my salary how am I suppose to pay my rent? buy food? pay bills? I believe this is unfair! very disappointed that I have to fork out that money while my work colleague pays R2500pm for the same plan (keycare plus)
