Discovery Maternity Benefits Are A ****!

Discovery maternity benefits are a *******. I am extremely disgusted at the service I have received from Discovery. At the beginning I was told to register for the maternity benefit to be covered for consultations and scans with the gynecologists.

After registering and calling Discovery many times to find suitable gynaecologists which are covered by them they could not provide me with a list or any gynecologists in the Johannesburg area. Instead I was told to find my own gynaecologist and discovery would then process the claim from the maternity benefit.

Fast forward to today I get told that the gynaecologist will only be paid up to scheme rate and a consultation which costs R1000 will only be processed for R417.

This is absurd as this was not communicated to me previously. I'm currently unemployed and now am being held liable for the shortfall in payment to the gynaecologist all because discovery messed up and couldn't communicate this to their clients who register for the maternity benefit.

To top it off they take more than 2 weeks to give feedback and do not even bother to keep the client informed unless you call them back for feedback. The managers are useless and do not know what they are doing or saying..... Its pathetic how they feel that they doing us a favour and have really bad attitudes about our concerns and queries. Managers cut the call on you and fail to call back or provide feedback. This service is pathetic and putred!
