Discovery maternity benefit is a ****!

Discovery’s Maternity benefit is a ****! They cover absolutely nothing that you need to do during pregnancy. None of the mandatory bloods or scans that you need to do during your pregnancy are covered! They don’t even cover a Down syndrome scan which has to be done in every pregnancy neither do they pay for the Down syndrome blood test. You land up coughing up so much more money because they pay for absolutely nothing yet you pay every month for medical aid! Their excuse is that the lab or the doctor used a different code than what they cover when I fact they don’t actually cover the blood work or scan! So clearly something is not aligned here. It’s just an excuse for them to say that why they can’t pay when truly nothing is covered in this benefit! Your doctor requires you to see a fetal specialist twice during your pregnancy with they also don’t cover or pay 1/3 of your bill and take it out of the 8 antenatal vists they claim they cover, but only pay a portion of. 8 antenatal visits when you have about 12 visits during your pregnancy!?!? If you are planning to get pregnant, please find another medical aid that covers all the essential pregnancy bloods and scans or start saving.

You would expect them to cover the bare minimum which they don’t cover!
