DISCOVERY MAKES THEIR CLIENTS PAY FOR CHRONIC MEDICATION - THERE IS NO REASONING HERE

I have been with Discovery Medical Aid, on their Classic Comprehensive package, the second highest package, for 14 years through my company. Currently costs about R8000 / month.

In the beginning it was a great medical aid to be on. Now they are becoming a nightmare.

a few years ago a suffered a heart attack with some complications. Thankfully i am still alive through the grace of god.

Since then i have been seeing specialist doctors, who have prescribed certain chronic medication for me as well as some non chronic medication.

What baffles me is that Discovery is making me pay a co-payment for Chronic medication, and the co payment must be paid in cash at the pharmacy and does not even come out of my savings even if it is a generic. If i run out of meds, and if i do not have enough funds, i have to stay away from my life saving medication until i get paid.

I have to pay co-payment on blood pressure medication, and sugar lowering medication in cash, Yet other non chronic medication even schedule 5 medications they take out fully from my savings.

I cannot understand the reasoning behind this. What kind of people make these decisions.

Not long ago part of my prescribed monthly medication was refused to me because according to the pharmacist discovery did not want to pay for it because of some calculation they did regarding a 12 month cycle. i got a call from discovery to explain, which was all a load of bullsheet.

Who are these people that makes these decisions. Do they have any qualifications in the medical field? If they do it makes you wonder why they working at discovery instead of a medical institute.

Recently i have been seeing alot of shocking things about Discovery, and is starting to worry me about what is going on here.

i do not need a reply from them, last month my wife went to an eye specialist where is had to pay cash, Discovery said within 2 to 3 days they will refund the money, instead she waited almost 3 weeks, after calling them everyday, and listening to their *********** excuses. So i do not want to listen to nonsense from them.

Just catch a wake up and smell the roses, because you was once an incredible medical aid, but if you hear the stories out in the street, you are going to fall hard if you dont wake up.

My company is also reviewing their business with you and looking for other options.

Let the day something happen to me or my family because Discovery thinks they no better that specialist doctors, that is the day all hell will break loose with these losers
