Discovery - is your aim really to protect & enhance people's lives!?

After being a member of Discovery for 4 years (and having worked for them for a year!) - I lapsed last year for 5 months meaning I didn't have the capacity to pay so my membership lapsed. At the end of January 2021 we started a new business and I was able to reinstate my membership in February. My lifelong dream has been to have a child and after fertility specialists and never falling pregnant naturally and now at 38 years old - I didn't believe that it was possible! In March 2021 we received the biggest blessing ever - that I was 16 weeks pregnant and had no idea... Initially Discovery approved my maternity benefit and consultations - until I tried to book my hospital bed for the birth in May. Since then they have declined anything to do with my birth stating their T & C's exclude any pre-existing conditions. Obviously I wasn't aware of my condition. I was accepted back on without any exclusions, no T & C's were ever emailed to me, I was re-instated via the call centre, no application was signed... Yet they are still declining and to get hold of any department is an absolute nightmare. After submitting an appeal to Forensic standards which was again declined I was then referred to the dispute committee. No-one takes ownership or even confirms receipt of any communication...

When is Discovery going to live up to their motto - to protect & enhance people's lives!?
