Discovery is an open book when it comes to your confidential personal information

Copy of an email sent to Discovery this afternoon, after they decided to give access to confidential personal information to anyone who feels like asking for it.

The last part of this email – their own “number one priority” - seems to be a joke, only it’s on us, the consumers.

Hi

I never gave permission to this doctor to access my personal information.

This is clearly not my signature. Surely you have my signature on file. The fact that you ask for a signature in a case like this, obviously assumes that someone is checking it.

You sent me an sms earlier, stating

You have given consent to DR M L to access your healthcare information. Call Discovery on ***if this is not correct.

This number "is incorrect." Try dialling it yourself.

All in all - Discovery clearly has ABSOLUTELY NO systems in place to protect our confidential information, or to safeguard it after a breach has taken place.

When is it going to stop, people? ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: <***> Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2022 at 12:18 Subject: Discovery HealthID: Patient consent granted -MailRef#***#-

So you have now addressed only one of the various concerns I highlighted in my original email.

Have you addressed the fact that someone forged my signature?

That your systems allowed them to do so, without any verification of the signature?

That the doctor's practice effectively **** to you?

That the SMS Discovery sent me included a phone number for me to call in the event of a problem, but this phone number does not work?

And the fact that your people expected me to contact the doctor myself and do what you have now done. Meaning that nobody within Discovery is interested in actually doing their job, as long as they can try to pass all responsibility back to the customers who just keep paying more and more every month for less and less value.

If these issues are not addressed, I can guarantee more of these problems being brought to your attention shortly.

Regards.
