Discovery Health wont pay for suicidal 12 yo child's treatment

My 12 year old daughter was admitted to a children's hospital in March after 2 suicide attempts in 24 hours. She was kept there for 3 weeks as we were all concerned that should she be released sooner, she would try to hurt herself again. Unfortunately, she had also been seeing a psychologist in the weeks leading up to this, I say 'unfortunately' because 1 psychologist visit = 1.5 days of her in-hospital allowance for depression. The psychiatrist and psychologist at the hospital called, sent emails substantiating why we couldn't let her out yet - we were told we had to apply for "Ex-Gratia" which is effectively additional cover for this in-hospital episode. I was told that they would 'consider' it but could only let us know in 6 weeks. In 6 weeks my daughter could well have been dead. She stayed the additional days - we submitted all the 'Ex Gratia' document requirements, referrals, reports.... never to hear from them again. Well, the hospital needs to be paid. And no-one from Discovery Health is 'authorised' to talk to me on behalf of the 'Ex-Gratia' team. As much as we tried to 'fix' her in 21 days, it takes a little longer - I'm sure you know this as you've recently spent millions of Rands advertising the importance of mental health. It's simple Discovery Health. Keep your gym membership, your Kauai smoothies and your 5% discount flights. But when my 12yo baby girl tries to **** herself, would you please pay for someone to help her? How much more do you want me to beg you for help?
