Discovery Health won't add a beneficiary

Recently I had to change jobs after going through a Section 189 (retrenchment) process. This resulted in my employment contract changing. On the new contract I had to either move to my new company's medical aid or be listed on my partner's medical aid as a beneficiary.

Needless to say since my partner is also with Discovery Health I wanted to stay with them and just be listed as a beneficiary on her plan. But this seems to be impossible for Discovery to do. Since my plan is lower than her plan it is seen as an \upgrade"request and this can only be done at the beginning of the year.

This is utterly ridiculous!! Because of this they are now losing me as a client completely (because I will be forced to move to my company medical aid) instead of being able to keep me. I can not believe that it is such a mission to be moved to her plan as a beneficiary. I have virtually never claimed anything from them (they should have this on record) and now because they are worried about a 4 month delay (since the allowable start of year move) they will not move me.

Why deny me the move? Why not just limit my cover or ask me to pay the outstanding balance of the \""upgraded\"" plan. Ridiculousness!"""
