RE: DISCOVERY HEALTH TAKING OUT ONE’S SAVINGS FOR THEIR MISTAKES. RE: MISGUIDING CLIENTS ON LATE JOINING FEES OR SO CALLED PENALTIES Please could anyone investigate this as I am sure there could be a class action suit against what I believe is not only straight forward theft but misleading their clients to believe that the penalty for late joining the medical aid scheme after a period of absents either since last being on a medical aid or not having a medical aid from the age of thirty five years as there is no end to there so called penalty of which is no set figure just a percentage that never goes away. My first run in with them was (August 2017) when I went to see my doctor for terrible pain in my right hip, as I was called into see him his receptionist told him that my daughters blood tests were back and she wanted to add them to my file. NB. We had removed my daughter from our medical aid plan in December 2016, and I hadn’t been to my doctor up until then, My doctor told his receptionist that she should start another file for my daughter as she is no longer on my medical aid plan as she is twenty one and has been taken off. The receptionist then rep**** that Discovery had paid for the blood tests already. And so our fight and knowledge to come has been quit frightening and extremely frustrating. When they were asked about why it had come of our medical scheme, we were told that they would have to go back into the archives to see what had happened, I then received a phone call at work to say that they had made a mistake and that I would have to pay them back R3 800 and some change for my daughters savings which by the time of discovering their mess the savings had all been used. Well you could have blown me over, as when I asked why I should pay her savings back and how much Discovery owed me she had no clue and would get back to me. A couple of weeks later not sure if it was the same woman I was then informed that I was due back R11 000 and something and that I must Pay back my Daughters allocated portion of the savings given to her that year, of which I told them their mad in the heads, they made the mistake of not taking her off my medical scheme so they should absorb the loss or ask my daughter for it, why should I pay? Of which I was informed That it was because I am the main member and I have to pay it, I told them that if they wanted it they could take it off the money due back to me or they would not get it, of which I was told that that couldn’t be done, as it was two different things of which I informed the lady that there was no way I was going to pay it and. So in January 2018 I went into hospital. Note: their Netcare Hospital, I checked all the doctors associated with my op were on normal rates and therefore was under the impression that my medical savings was untouched, for us to have funds for our glasses and all the other things that are not covered by my medical aid scheme. Now this is where I was in for a shock, first of all after coming out of hospital I went to buy some meds, only to be told I had no savings left, well the hunt began to find the money, after endless phone calls of fighting to try and make sense of where it had vanished to. After endless time on the phone I was told that there has been a withdrawal on my medical savings of which obviously I laughed as I know the card has no magnetic strip and has no pin number to withdraw any money from my medical savings and I didn’t know you could, even if you wanted to. I was then informed my savings started on a negative of which was explained to me eventually that was taken from my account and approved by a women named MONIQUE ROSS, so when I eventually talked to her I stated that just because she has access to my account what gives her the right to just take what she deems due to Discovery as it was their mistake to start with, of which she told me I was not getting the money back. I believe this is theft. RE: MEDICAL AID SCHEMES: LATE JOINER PENALTIES My second run in with Discovery which is surely ******** is the next thing I learnt during my year of many calls and fighting was this their so called penalty, they take of everyone for late joining or not having a medical plan previously which is no set amount it’s a percentage and when asked when does this penalty end I was informed “never” I cannot believe it, I have stated to discovery that it can’t be called a penalty as a penalty has a beginning and an end, they are misleading their clients and obviously making a fortune out of this, what I would call a **** as it never ends you are not just paying for the period that you were without a medical plan you are paying for ever. So can it be called a penalty? It’s a ******* and unless you have asked about it, no one knows. Now being in my profession and speaking to many people and believe me they are shocked on how they can not only take money from one’s account when it’s their blunder, but also how misguided they are by believing that a portion of their payment will end eventually, but it doesn’t, so why is it not called a payment and why is there no fixed amount, no one knows how much they are taking or making every month the rest of their lives. No wonder the can now open their own bank now, it’s through *****ing people’s money and misrepresentation, it’s disgusting
