Discovery Health taxes you for brand Loyality

<p>My mum has been on a Discovery medical aid plan from 2003 to May 2016. She had to cancel her medical aid last year due to financial reasons.</p> <p>She is now in a position to afford medical aid.</p> <p>When I called Discovery to get my mum back on her medical aid plan, I was informed that a 25% penalty fee will be app**** to her medical aid premiums.</p> <p>I find this totally unacceptable and *********.</p> <p>What are the reasons for the penalty fee?<br /> What rules did Discovery apply to determine the 25% penalty fee? <br /> Is this allowed based on the medical schemes act?<br /> Was my mum's loyalty (a member for 13 years) considered when deciding on a penalty fee?</p> <p><br />Please help me.</p> <p>Kind regards,</p> <p>Rivash</p>
