DISCOVERY HEALTH SCHEME IS NOT FAIR OR GOOD FOR PEOPLE WITH ASTHMA

I am an asthmatic patient who recently moved from one city to another. I have moved to Cape Town and there are only 3 pulmonologists on the Key care plus plan. I have contacted all 3 lung specialists on their lists of doctors on their network I was told I could go to which is Dr Bilaal Abdool Gafoor, Dr O Brein and Dr Abdoola. None of the doctors charge the medical rates or take the chronic visit. The fee Dr Bilaal charges is R3000-00 which means it is 78% of the fee that is given to specialist consults. This is completely unacceptable. The same applies to Dr O Briens high charges and Dr Abdoola has no appointments. My husband who is also on the Hospital Plan of discovery will not be able to see any of these Drs under chronic. This basically means an asthmatic patient has no lung specialist to visit if they cannot afford a cash rate of R3000.00 as I contacted discovery and their scheme only pays around R1600 or less in total for everything. This puts my health in jeopardy as I am currently struggling with my asthma and can't afford the doctors high unacceptable rates and discovery has only 3 lung specialists in the Western Cape.
