Discovery Health Increase Shamble

I have just cancelled my medical cover with Discovery, I only received an SMS on the 11/06/2021 saying they have not received proof off income. We are busy with our financial year end so I didn't have time to communicate with them earlier, from the 21/06/2021 I tried to contact Discovery remembering the SMS I received only to wait sometimes about 20mins which I cant afford to do at this current stage of the year, eventually I left it thinking that the increase would maybe be max R500 on top of what I was currently paying.

Then today I get debited more than 50% increase of what I was paying which is absurd for the Keycare Plus Package which isn't even great to start with. I then phoned finally got through after waiting 15mins to be assisted only to be told that they cannot do anything even if I supp**** my current Pay-Slip and I can only downgrade currently (How do you downgrade from the KeyCare range, I thought this was the lowest package offered) and even if I cancelled I would not be refunded my debit even though I am cancelling the month they want to cover me for “July”.

After being extremely difficult which I do apologies for now to the agent that was assisting me but I am fuming how can discovery do this knowing very well what the country is going through not even bothering to even try get a hold of the customers who they have not received any feedback from.

The worst part is after doing research I found out that Key-Health and Fed-Health have options that are similar to discoveries mid-top tier packages for +- R1000 LESS!!! (My instance) that currently make me look like an idiot for staying with discoveries KeyCare Range, As the packages even cover for dental.

People make the right decision and do research and choose companies that actually care about how their decisions affect there clientele, because currently if Discovery think that their KeyCare Range is affordable and suited for families or individuals on a low income they need to have an extremely long boardroom meeting and re-evaluate themselves in the south African market.
