Discovery Hassle

Since the end of April I have submitted several medical claims to Discovery Health and to date, the 22nd of May, these claims have not been paid due to, according to the automatic responses, as well the notes on their website, the membership being under suspension.

I have lodged complaints and have spoken to over 4 people from Discovery, the first one being the supervisor, Tasmyn, on or around the 2nd of May, who promised to lift up the suspension and to call me back as soon as the suspension was lifted. To date i have not received a call from her yet.

Subsequent to that I spoke to Ryan Du Plessis, who resubmitted the various claims, which were three at the time, and who gave me two reference numbers in this regard, ********** 391; ********** 540.

Subsequent to these resubmission I received automated responses indicating that the submitted claims will not be paid due to the membership being suspended.

I then called Discovery again, was told to ignore these automated responses and told that new claims were being resubmitted, with new reference numbers being given ( ********** 448, ********** 795)

On the 18th I visited a pharmacy to get a prescprition and my claim was once again rejected for due to my membership being under suspension.

Together with the pharmacist, we called Discovery, were told this was a mistake and that the pharmacist should reverse the first claim and resubmit a new claim.

He did, three times, each time with the claim being rejected, until i decided to pay for the medicine out of my pocket.

I then contacted Discovery, and was told that a query would be logged and I should receive feedback in 2 to three days.

Today, being the 22nd of May, I logged into the Discovery website to track my claims, and lo and behold, all claims submitted by me from the 29th of May to the 18th of May, including those submitted by 2 doctors directly, were reflected as unpaid due to the membership being suspensed.

I spoke to a lady called Nomfundo around 19h30 tonite, who indicate she could remove the suspension on the system as she could see the account was active and all previously outstanding amounts have been received to date.

During the past week I had received an email from Client Services wanting to know if my issues had been sorted to which I responded that they had not and yet i had not received any call to follow up on my response

Have received two conflicting emails this morning, the first indicating that the suspension has been lifted up and the second confirming all claims have been rejected on the basis of the suspension.

The matter has still not be adequately resolved. Suspension removed but claims being paid to health service provider rather than to me, sone claims being duplicated, despite these being highlighted to the consultant.
