Discovery has gone down the toilet
I cut open my thumb and had to get 10 stitches.
I am on the discovery smart plan. On the smart plan guide they state that you should go to the hospital in case of an emergency and that an emergency does not require you to be admitted.
Discovery ended up not paying a cent. They just keep saying that casualties are not covered. If I was admitted they may have covered it.
No where do they say this on the smart guide. They in fact state that you should go to the hospital i. An emergency. No hospital takes in emergency patientes. Yoy have to go through the ER in order to be seen. So please discovery. Explain to me how this works?

22 Jul 2019, 10:31Just to follow up on this so everyone knows. Discovery's solution for this was to send me a pmb form for the Dr to complete. Which is ridiculous . The Dr will only complete the form for a fee of close to R500 which discovery wont pay. This is just how they get out of paying for emergency care. I need to add that I was recently hospitalized with pnemonia. Discovery did pay for everything in hospital. But they still don't cover the emergency room fees.
If I call them they say it is not included in my plan. However there is no mention of this on my benefits document. It actually states that I do not need pre authorization in case of emergency and should proceed to my nearest hospital... So this still doesnt make sense . I refuse to pay money just on the odd chance that they may cover the account. And now the blame will just be shifted to the Dr. So it isn't a true resolve.
