Discovery has Double Standards and does not keep up to their advertising
I registered and created a pregnancy profile on the Discovery app. I was covered for 8 consultations which I used and was paid for by Discovery. The delivery of my baby was pre authorised and my c-section took place on 23/12/2019. All in hospital accounts were paid for in full by Discovery. Fast forward to May 2020 where I submit 2 claims to Discovery for 2 visits to the paediatrician on 08/01/2020 and 06/04/2020. These claims were submitted to Discovery on 4/06/2020. Discovery then rejected the claim with the initial reason being that the claims were submitted late and therefore will not be paid. Upon further complaints to Discovery I received a phone call whereby I was told that Discovery will not pay this claim as my newborn needs to be registered onto the Discovery medical aid in order to qualify for this benefit. Upon further review and reading up on various brochures and on the Discovery website, they ALL state that these 2 consultations are covered as part of the MATERNITY BENEFIT which I should still be covered for being a member of Discovery. The person that I spoke to could not answer my questions about the information advertised on the Discovery website and advised me that if I choose to escalate this matter I will be given the same answer as my child needs to be registered onto the medical aid as they need to link the paed visits to a dependent code. Again, this forms part of MY maternity benefit and should therefore be linked to my maternity profile. The matter has again been referred to the complaints division at Discovery and I am awaiting their outcome. Should this claim still be rejected to be paid, it will then be referred to the principal officer for review as Discovery has double standards and is not keeping up to what ir advertised and promised in their brochures.
