Discovery happy with 16 year old losing leg
My son had a knee operation in September - he now has an infection in his knee and this falls under a PMB - DISCOVERY approved followed up visits to the doctor but refuses to pay for the antibiotics.
They are happy for a 16 year old to get sepsis in his knee and lose his leg and pay for that. I honestly do not understand how the doctor is suppose to kill the infection in his knee without antibiotics.
So it is acceptable to be admitted to hospital and get antibiotics in hospital at R25 000 per day or lose your leg

20 Dec 2023, 15:16I would appreciate the feedback. If you look at the request form that the doctor sent through it was for Antibiotics not for follow up visits. It is really shocking and disappointing how this has been handled by Discovery.
I honestly think that our company broker should be check if our company can be offered other choices to other medical aids that actually cares about the wellbeing of their patients.

Please get someone in your clinical department to call me and explain to me how they approve the PMB for doctor's consultations but not the medication relating to that PMB?? It doesnt make sense and none of your agents can explain it either.
