Discovery gives comfort in time of deep sorrow
I wanted to commend Discovery Health for their caring assistance when my Dad was end of life. They recommended Dr Craig Howes (palliative care doctor) who is one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever met. Kind, gentle and exactly what you need when you know you are losing a loved one. Sister Lee who was the palliative care nurse was an absolute star. Both caring and kind - did everything to make Dad comfortable in his last days. Thank you to Discovery for stepping in and assisting on the Advanced Illness Benefit when no other doctor (his long term GP, the Oncologist) would not lend a hand. We found solace in Discovery and the team they provided. I would give 5 stars but would like to make mention that the website and the telephone service are not up to the usual standard that Discovery used to provide. I understand that COVID 'may' have compromised service a touch. Website - I am a savvy user but trying to find the AIB Application is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Telephone service - options are not consistent - not sure if someone is changing things on a regular basis - but the experience is not good. Once through to the right people - they are wonderful and helpful (a special mention for Wendy who helped me a lot) - just the time and frustration to get to that person is awful. For instance the AIB number of *** simply did not work. I called it would answer and then when I picked the option I required it would go to engaged - not once, twice or three times - dozens of times. I eventually got hold of the right person through the main number going to Oncology and then getting transferred.
